According to the most recent filings, Attorney at Law Albert Baldeo
has outpaced all of his declared rivals in fundraising for the Sept.
13 Democratic Primary. He reported raising $48,595 in contributions
from 202 donors. His closest rival Tom White, Jr. raised $22,641
from 108 donors, while minor candidates Dhanpaul Narine raised $9,977
from 42 donors, Larry McClean raised $555 from 9 donors, and Charles
Bilal’s filing has yet to be updated.
Incumbent Councilman Allan Jennings has yet to file with the Board
as he owes $40,000 in outstanding penalties from his 2001 and 2003
“I want to thank all of my supporters across this district who
have financially contributed to my campaign. They have put great
faith in my candidacy. Together, we will succeed. We will now be
able to get our message out to the voters who, after two terms of
Jennings’ embarrassments and Tom White's 60 % absenteeism, are ready
for improvements in education, health care, jobs, wages, housing,
small businesses, safety, property taxes, public transportation,
police relations, the environment and other quality of life issues.
The residents of District 28 are seeing the need for change, and
I am stepping up to the plate to bat for them," Baldeo said.
Baldeo, who has stepped up his campaign to the entire district,
urged, "Unless we unite, register to vote, and exercise our
right to vote, we will be kept out of the benefits our tax payments
should bring to us. The last Councilmen, Allan Jennings and Tom
White, did very little, if anything, for us, and we should send
someone who would represent our interests to the City Council. I
am that candidate! We cannot be running from "pillar to post"
all our lives! The Diaspora has enriched America, and we must get
our fair due from the government! But be wary of those who seek
to divide us. I will be here for the entire district, and together,
we will chart a new course to a better quality of life for all of

the tactics of the Manning administration, and has called on Caricom,
the Congress of the USA and the UN to intervene to ensure that justice
