As of May 17, most City Council Candidates as well as Citywide Candidates filed Statement 8 with the NYC Campaign Finance Board. According to the filings, Attorney Albert Baldeo has outpaced all of his declared rivals in fundraising for the Sept. 13 Democratic Primary. He reported raising $48,595 in contributions from 202 donors. His closest rival Tom White, Jr. raised $22,641 from 108 donors, while minor candidates Dhanpaul Narine raised $9,977 from 42 donors, Larry McClean raised $555 from 9 donors, and Charles Bilal’s filing has yet to be updated.

According to Statement 8, Albert Baldeo has:

Met and exceeded all of the threshold requirements for participation in the NYC Campaign Finance Program.
Exceeded the amount needed to qualify for maximum public matching funds by 125%.
Incumbent Councilman Allan Jennings has yet to file with the Board as he owes $40,000 in outstanding penalties from his 2001 and 2003 elections.

“I want to thank all of my supporters across this district who have financially contributed to my campaign. They have sent a strong message of endorsement by contributing in the way that they have to my campaign. We will now be able to get our message out to the voters, who after two terms of Jennings’ antics and Tom White's 60 % absenteeism, are ready for improvements in education, health care, jobs, wages, housing, small businesses, safety, property taxes, public transportation, police relations, the environment and other quality of life issues," Baldeo said.
