BALDEO MAINTAINS MASSIVE LEAD IN DISTRICT 28: EXCEEDS ALL OPPONENTS
As of May 17, most City Council Candidates as well as Citywide
Candidates filed Statement 8 with the NYC Campaign Finance Board.
According to the filings, Attorney Albert Baldeo has outpaced all
of his declared rivals in fundraising for the Sept. 13 Democratic
Primary. He reported raising $48,595 in contributions from 202 donors.
His closest rival Tom White, Jr. raised $22,641 from 108 donors,
while minor candidates Dhanpaul Narine raised $9,977 from 42 donors,
Larry McClean raised $555 from 9 donors, and Charles Bilal’s filing
has yet to be updated.
According to Statement 8, Albert Baldeo has:
Met and exceeded all of the threshold requirements for participation
in the NYC Campaign Finance Program.
Exceeded the amount needed to qualify for maximum public matching
funds by 125%.
Incumbent Councilman Allan Jennings has yet to file with the Board
as he owes $40,000 in outstanding penalties from his 2001 and 2003
“I want to thank all of my supporters across this district who
have financially contributed to my campaign. They have sent a strong
message of endorsement by contributing in the way that they have
to my campaign. We will now be able to get our message out to the
voters, who after two terms of Jennings’ antics and Tom White's
60 % absenteeism, are ready for improvements in education, health
care, jobs, wages, housing, small businesses, safety, property taxes,
public transportation, police relations, the environment and other
quality of life issues," Baldeo said.
