ALBERT BALDEO JOINS STRIKE FOR HAMPTON & HOLIDAY INNS WORKERS AT JFK AIRPORT

District 28 candidate Albert Baldeo showed solidarity with striking workers at the Hampton and Holiday Inn workers at JFK airport over Independence Day weekend. The aggrieved employees, consisting of housekeepers, room service attendants, bus boys, cleaners, waiters and receiving clerks, were protesting their "poor working conditions and wages," and management's refusal to let them form unions to enhance and protect their employment. Baldeo has joined their protest and is joining forces with other organizations such as Local 6, the Hotel, Restaurant, and Club employees & Bartenders Union, a branch of AFL-CIO to bring justice to these "workers whose rights have been trampled upon."

"We must ensure that we put enough pressure on these hotels to stop exploiting our hard working brothers and sisters now! Independence must not only be a word, but it must translate into freedom, living wages, workers' rights and justice for all Americans, not only the privileged few," Baldeo urged.
